- The Library of Congress
site specifically designed as an aid to classroom teachers may be found
here. It has extensive materials and links for teaching a wide variety
of topics including: "The New Nation", "National
Expansion and Reform", and so forth up to "Post War United States
(1945-1968).

- Here is a great page for
students and teachers of a wide range of social studies topics.
Resources are grouped by topic including these areas: World History
Chronology, America's Wars, Nation by Nation (political atlas-like
resources), Election Central, 20th Century Almanac, Primary documents,
biographies, and special interest topics including aviation, railroads, and
more. The page is commercially supported by a shopping area for
teaching materials and historical memorabilia.

includes much information about American history, politics, government may
be found at this site.
- Early
America
- This page includes brief
historical introductions to many significant events and links to original
documents or facsimiles of historical documents for students to study.
- American
Indians and the Natural World
- Visit the online version of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in
Pittsburgh, PA. The exhibit examines Native American tribes in four
different locales and provides an excellent resource for study as well as
a tool to compare and contrast their relationship to nature and the
natural world.
- First Nations History
- Find a brief summary of information about fifty different Native
American tribes at this site. It can serve as an overview or an
introduction to more detailed study about various Native American groups.

- Here is a wonderful site detailing some of the history and culture of
the Oneida Indian Nation. Photos, Quicktime VR movies are among the
features that enhance the text at this site.
- Native
American Shelters
- Here is a site that explores the variety of habitations developed and
used by Native Americans from the well known "tepee" to the
igloo, adobe houses, cliff dwellings, etc.
- Song
Catcher Frances Densmore
- This site from Minnesota Public Radio is an archive and report on the
work of Frances Densmore. She was a researcher and amateur
anthropologist who focused on studying the culture native Americans
during the early part of the 20th century.

- This is a great place for teachers of American History courses.
Many resources are provided including audio files containing oral
histories, diary entries, and other primary source information.

- This web site has evolved
into a database of information about Black culture. Included in
the database is information about history, film, and literature.

Geographic Map Machine
- This is an interactive site that
lets students (or teachers) create maps on a wide variety of specialize
topics, print them, or save them. In addition, there are links to
"Round Earth, Flat Maps" - a site that teaches about the dilemma
of trying to represent a 3-D object in a 2-D medium - and to a site that
provides pictures from space viewing the earth in whole new way. Who
can do it better than National Geographic?

exception. Explore and learn about some of the factors that

geography - a 3-D atlas with amazing amounts of information. The site
is maintained by Compton's as a companion to their CD-ROM version of the
same content but can be used with or without the software.

provides research paper writers with step-by-step assistance to do a better

- This site provides good
information for both a study of geography and a study of science.
Information about native peoples of the Artic Circle, the environment,
