Let’s Analyze!
Here are the steps we'll follow for the analysis phase of our work. Click a link for more information:
Role Assignments: For this activity, participants will each assume one of the four roles named above (originally proposed by Bernie Dodge for a similar activity analyzing WebQuests). They can be briefly described as follows below.
| Efficiency Expert - This person is concerned with getting the curriculum covered. She would be keeping a watchful eye on a WebQuest to determine if relevant objectives are covered with a minimum of wasted time. | Affiliator - This person believes quality learning experiences require some form of collaboration or teamwork. He would be checking to see what kinds of interaction will be required for students to complete a WebQuest. |
| Technophile - This person thinks technology should be used to add some glitz and flash to a web site. She expects the site to work smoothly, but also to include good graphics, nice page layout, easy navigation, and maybe even some use of multimedia. | Altitudinist - This person wants those higher order thinking skills emphasized. Covering many objectives is not nearly as important to him as having students demonstrate deeper levels of understanding. |
From the perspective of YOUR role, take a look at each of the following sites. If there are others assigned to the same role, discuss your perspectives and prepare to argue which of the sites is BEST from your viewpoint. Here are the sites:
We will come back together in class and hear your views. Discuss the pros and cons of each site and see if we can reach a consensus about which site is best and why!
