Have you ever used a modem before? Have you used Unicom, America OnLine or CompuServ? Chances are that no matter what level of use you have had, accessing the World Wide Web on a district account now is a new experience. In this session, we review basic information about modems, etc. for the true beginners. then, we will discuss the basic information necessary to access the World Wide Web using Unicom as a service provider. Each participant will then use basic features of Netscape 4.0 to explore a few introductory Web sites. Throughout the course, terminology associated with telecommunications will also be introduced.
Access the World Wide Web in your school's library or in the Teacher Center at least twice between now and the next class session. Investigate the resources suggested in our first week's handouts and begin browsing on your own as you increase confidence.
